SWELL Wakesurf is a family-run company that’s creating a lot of waves around the world. The concept of SWELL started when two brothers were tinkering with their home-made wake shapers -special equipment you add to boats that create surfing waves.
While their boat was much older and smaller than those around them, their waves were MUCH bigger and the envy of all. Soon enough, people started asking if they could buy their wake shapers, and their company was born!
Goal
Because wakesurfing is a seasonal business (it’s not as fun in freezing cold water), SWELL Wakesurf needed a way to stay more in touch with their past customers and people who have shown interest in their products, but haven’t yet purchased.
While SWELL Wakesurf had done some email marketing internally, they wanted to get better results. They wanted to increase their monthly recurring revenue and explode sales from their special sales events held throughout the year.

Because wakesurfing is a seasonal activity (mostly done in warm conditions), GrowthFront needed to quickly develop a series of email campaigns to capitalize on the current season. With the 4th of July weekend less than a month away, the team at GrowthFront worked quickly to develop a strategy, write the email copy and set up their campaigns.
Strategy
GrowthFront built a two-pronged strategy for SWELL Wakesurf.
#1: A full set of e-comm email automations to maximize their customer lifetime value (increasing their sales by 26% month to month) and turning more leads into customers.
#2: A series of sales events sent out during popular wakesurfing periods (4th July, Labor Day, Mid-Summer, etc.). GrowthFront’s first campaign generated over $20,333 and beat their last years’ campaign (around $3,000).
